Raquel Meyers

Postcard from Concrete Redundancy by Raquel Meyers featuring ArtLab interns

Raquel Meyers, our Summer AIR (Artist in Residence), has been hard at work collecting "Techno-Fossils" and teaching our ArtLab Interns techniques like Teletext 8-bit animations for the upcoming exhibition Concrete Redundancy. Don't miss the opening on July 29th 6-9 PM at our new Annex Gallery on the TAXI Campus. 3575 Ringsby Ct. Denver, CO 80216.

Raquel Meyers hails from Bilbao, Spain, and will be working with PlatteForum’s high school ArtLab Interns to create the exhibition Concrete Redundancy. ArtLab Interns and Meyers will examine the effects the pandemic has had on us all, find redundancies, delete the unnecessary, and reimagine a better, more interconnected future. Students will create sound pieces, 8-bit animations, and zines using obsolete technology and learning techniques that Meyers employs like 8-bit animation, frottage, graphic notations, teletext, etc.

Meyers's work has been featured at Meow Wolf Denver, International Teletext Art Festival ITAF, Shibuya Pixel Art, Supernova Digital Animation Festival, Arts Electronica, Transmediale, among others.
