Raquel Meyers: Concrete Redundancy
Concrete Redundancy is a project that combines artistic research and KYBDslöjd Poetics (KYBD is the English acronym for keyboard and slöjd, a Scandinavian word meaning manual dexterity). It is a temporary raw habitat for the times we are living. What awaits us is a techno-medieval version of the world where all stored knowledge and memory will be reduced to premium access or simply disappear leaving “the cloud” in ruins. Humans will be reduced, rather than to relics, to techno-rubble; an Anthropocene souvenir for the future. Concrete Redundancy is a tool for the struggle. Redundancy is “the state of being not or no longer needed or useful,” for example the brutalist Denver7 building soon to be demolished or, the Teletext Service used in Europe for on demand news. 'Concrete' is a collection of several artifacts created with obsolete technology (Typewriter, Teletext and fax) during Meyers’ 2 month Platteforum Residency in Denver.

Concrete Redundancy es un proyecto que combina investigación artística y KYBDslöjd Poetics (KYBD es el acrónimo en inglés para teclado y, slöjd, es una palabra de origen escandinavo que significa destreza manual). Un hábitat provisional y brutal para los tiempos en que vivimos. Lo que nos espera es una versión tecno-medieval del mundo donde todo el conocimiento almacenado y la memoria se reducirán a un acceso premium o, simplemente, desaparecerán dejando "la nube" en ruinas. Los seres humanos serán reducidos, en lugar de reliquias, a tecno-escombros; un souvenir del antropoceno para el futuro. Concrete Redundancy es una herramienta de lucha. Redundancia es "el estado de no ser necesario o útil", cómo por ejemplo, el edificio brutalista Denver7 que pronto será demolido o, el Servicio de Teletexto utilizado en Europa para noticias a la carta. 'Concrete' es una colección de artefactos creados con tecnología obsoleta (máquina de escribir, teletexto y fax) durante la residencia Platteforum de 2 meses de Meyers en Denver.
