Once selected, students remain in ArtLab until the summer after they graduate high school.WHATWHAT HAPPENS IN ARTLAB?ArtLab youth work side by side with professional artists to create 3-5 bodies of work annually, which are professionally presented to the public. With the opportunity to work with a variety of artists, students are exposed to diverse genres such as sculpture, painting, theater, filmmaking, street art, choreography, music, photography, poetry and more. Youth create and present major artistic works relating to issues in their lives and communities and participate in service-learning projects. Students are also provided personalized planning support to reach their goals after high school. ArtLab students are offered academic support and post-secondary mentorship.WHAT IF I’M NOT AN ARTIST?Our definition of art is broad – you could be interested in dance, music, design, theatre, fashion, and other art mediums – we want to support how any of these practices can share and support your voice. The purpose of ArtLab is to challenge yourself.WHENWHEN DOES ARTLAB MEET AND FOR HOW LONG?During the school year, ArtLab meets every Saturday at PlatteForum from 10–1PM. In the summer we meet Monday through Thursday from 10-3PM. We also take time off for holidays and school breaks.WHEREWHERE IS PLATTEFORUM?PlatteForum is in the RiNo Arts District of Denver. Our address is 2400 Curtis Street.HOW MANYHOW MANY INTERNS ARE IN ARTLAB?ArtLab is composed of 15 interns. As students graduate from high school, openings are available for new students. ArtLab accepts applications every fall semester to fill those openings.HOW MUCHHOW MUCH DOES THE INTERNSHIP PAY?ArtLab Interns are paid a stipend during the academic year of $100/month and in the summer up to $500 per month. Stipends are adjusted based on attendance to workshops.WHY? Because we believe we can achieve social change through art and love. ?
