ArtLab Spring 2010 Interns

In the Spring of 2010 ArtLab will be working with PlatteForum's Creative Resident, Katie Watson . In collaboration with the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art and the TECO program, during Katie's residency the students will work to create experiential films to be installed at the MCA. For her residency Katie will create a complex interactive site-specific installation for the Idea Box at the MCA, responding to the direct environment of the space and Colorado. Many of Katie's photographic images and scultpural objects are what she calls "instructional". suggesting a new way to see, feel or do.  ArtLab's involvement in the program will be as a group that will collectively build and organize a mini-interactive installation incorporating photography, video, sculpture and text. Each facet of the installation will require a new form of viewer participation. In addition to working with Katie Watson, ArtLab you will work with Judy Anderson, PlatteForum's Founder and Artistic Director. For the second year ArtLab will work together in the creation of a mural for the 2010 People's Fair Mural Competition. The competition is preceded by brain storming sessions and trips to the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art and several more sites. The students spend time with Judy Anderson and conceptualize the mural after learning design elements and participating in passionate discussions about their generation.
