Lauri Lynnxe Murphy + Colfax Community Network + Escuela Tlatelolco
FlowFebruary 5 - April 7, 2007During Lauri’s residency she worked with youth to create a massive, room-sized installation piece consisting of hundreds of components. The youth, teen girls from Colfax Community Network and teens from Escuela Tlatelolco worked side by side with Lauri learning her creative process while creating their own forms from plaster. The resulting work and installation is a true collaboration between the artist and participants, where the forms "flow" through the work, creating a river of juxtaposed imagery, color, texture, and form. In addition to the workshops and installation at PlatteForum, the students participated in a “live painting” demonstration with Lauri at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House during the celebration of the Mayor’s Award for Excellence, which was given to PlatteForum.Colfax Community Network Teachers: Shannon Salazar (Family Support & Outreach) and Katie Meske (Americorps volunteer)Teens: Sierra, Hannah, Caylah, Embassie, Tammarra, Rebeka, Sashia, E-Shaw, age 13Escuela TlatelolcoTeacher: Cheryl WilseyTeens: Andrew, John, Jazz, Celina, Daisy, Sully, Eva, (Roger) Rogelio, Rene, RicardoPlatteForum Intern: Lindsay SmithVolunteers: Kellee Corti, Rochelle Johnson, Gretchen Calhoun, Shelly Heard, Emily Potts, Chris SchoolerSpecial thanks to: Lindsay Smith, Rick Benjamin-Tebelau, Karen Eilene Saenz, WineGuruEvents.com, Wine Merchants of Colorado, Izze Beverage, Safeway Foods, Connie Robertson, Gina Rubano and Friends of PlatteForum
