Each artwork reveals the artist’s growth and exemplifies how they benefited from their mistakes to go on to become professional artists. In expressing their curatorial vision, ArtLab interns stated, “Failure is an experience that everyone encounters, and there are many strong feelings connected to one‘s failures, such as shame, embarrassment, disappointment and insecurity. However, many people do not see the benefits of failure, which can be innovation, breakthrough, radical solution, humility and so on!”The Temple artists featured include Theresa Anderson, Drew Austin, Sandra Fettingis, Rembrandt Giddy, Caleb Hahne, Suchitra Mattai, Lewis Neeff, Lori Owicz, George P Perez, Regan Rosburg, Dylan Scholinski, Frankie Toan, Kahlil Cezanne Zawadi and others. This year’s group exhibition of artists from The Temple, The Faux Pas Factory, is part of a larger series of exhibitions and lectures that PlatteForum launched with the Temple artists in Spring 2017. This programming is designed to promote community and diversity in Denver, pairing creatives from the Temple with Denver change agents to challenge injustice and champion equality. The Temple Artists Group Exhibition is made possible in part by a generous grant from the Bonfils Stanton Foundation.About ArtLabArtLab is an innovative year-round, out-of-school program for under-resourced high school youth that integrates the creative process and arts-based learning with academic, personal and professional skills. The ArtLab interns, many of whom have recently graduated from high school and are setting outfor the first time in their careers, are learning valuable professional skills from the curatorialexperience. PlatteForum boasts a 99% high school graduation rate of its interns, and thepractical professional skills attained through organizing this exhibition will follow themlong into their professional lives. image credit: Suchitra Mattai, detail of "Failed" Artwork, mixed media/found media
