Mural Presentation and Ribbon-cutting
The summer came and went in the blink of an eye but, I suppose, that is because we were having so much fun! Since beginning the summer session in early June, ArtLab Interns created and performed original poetry three nights in a row with lead artist Andrea Moore, lead 25 youth in an eight week literacy project focused on heroes and comic book culture and, created an original large-scale mural in Globeville with lead artist Carlos Fresquez. As we wrap up our summer session we would like to take this time invite you to join us along with District 9 City Councilwoman Judy Montero in Globeville, for a presentation and ribbon-cutting celebrating the mural on September 20th at 10am at 46th and Lincoln in Globeville. This mural is the last in a series of four created at the intersection of 46th and Lincoln in Globeville, and is titled “Emerging Community Treasures.” The 2013 mural created by PlatteForum’s ArtLab youth, “Change from Within,” was a collaboration between ArtLab and muralist Jeremy Silas Ulibarri—also known as “Jolt”—of Guerilla Garden on the North-east pillar. The creative process for both built on interactions and meetings with the community members by the youth for the initial conceptual design for the work. The South pillars were completed by Anthony Garcia and artists of Birdseed Collective. It is exciting to see all of the hard work put into this project fully realized and we hope you can celebrate with us, so mark your calendars for September 20th at 10am!For more information about the mural or ArtLab's summer adventures hop over to the ArtLab Blog.
