ArtLab is the best in the nation!
PlatteForum's ArtLab program, a high-impact, year-round, arts-based youth development program for underserved high-school youth that incorporates the arts with academic, personal, college readiness, and professional skill development, is proud to be the recipient of the 2011 National Arts & Humanities Youth Program Award. This award is the highest honor in the land for out-of-school arts and humanities programs that celebrate the creativity of America's young people, particularly those from underserved communities. This award recognizes and supports excellence in programs that open new pathways to learning, self-discovery, and achievement. ArtLab alum Salvador Flores-Martinez, who was an ArtLab intern from 2009-2011, accepted the award at the White House on behalf of PlatteForum. PlatteForum's Founder and Artistic Director Judy Anderson and Education Director Meagan Terry made the trek to Washington D.C. with Sal and were able to share the big secret on November 2, 2011.
