Gold is a portrait photographer and emerging artist in Denver. Her first artistic endeavor, Black in Denver, is a visual ethnography that investigates identity, specifically in small Black communities. Her practice also examines solitude, isolation, and the evolution of the self. As a Resident Artist at PlatteForum, she will present a twofold exhibition that includes select Black in Denver portraits and an installation titled Journey to Liberation, reflecting on her own spiritual path. During her residency she will lead PlatteForum’s ArtLab interns through a workshop exploring identity and the Japanese art of kintsugi, a process of repair which offers lessons about resilience, healing and finding beauty in imperfection.
