About the Artist

Kathryn Batsel is a fiber artist living in Denver, Colorado. Her work focuses around craft and DIY as cathartic actions, both in subject matter depicted in art and in the actual process of creating the works. She has come to the realization that she must be doing something with her hands at all times. She frequently wishes she had more hands, ideally an octopus number. She has gotten all her best things from the dumpster, including her cat. Katy incorporates knitting, embroidery, and weaving into her work. She comes from Georgia, and finds she is frequently able to convince people false things about Southerners. She holds a BA in Sociology and Women’s Studies from the University of Georgia.
