PlatteForum is pleased to announce the exhibition Glisten of Pavement, Sparkle of Doubt with a free, public reception at PlatteForum, 2400 Curtis Street in Denver. The exhibitions runs through February 16th.Gallery hours are Tuesdays - Fridays, noon-6pm.

Developed by PlatteForum's third Resident Artist of the season, Courtney Kemp, along with youth from the Colfax Community Network, Glisten of Pavement, Sparkle of Doubt is a new exhibition that explores concepts of one's awareness in youth, and the moment that a person understands their actions and the consequences. Incorporating defunct neon signs, false traffic and construction signage along with lipstick and other gendered elements, Courtney Kemp seeks to investigate one's experience of how to become cognizant of the realities and potentials of our world. Colfax Community Network’s twenty-five elementary-age youth visited PlatteForum weekly to create their own painted tiles, miniature billboards and drawings which are representative of their experiences and self portraits.About the ArtistCourtney Kemp currently lives Portland, Oregon, and teaches at Oregon College of Art and Craft and University of Oregon concurrently in Metals and 3D Foundations. She has recently served as the gallery manager of Disjecta Contemporary Art Center in Portland, Oregon, and is an alumni member of Ditch Projects, an artist run gallery and collective.
