“Dinner with the Ego and I,” slam poetry multimedia performance by Resident Artist Hakeem Furious
along with high school students from PlatteForum’s own ArtLab program

PlatteForum is thrilled to present a new immersive performance experience, “Dinner with the Ego and I,” coming this October. The one-night only performance will be held on Thursday, October 26. Doors open at 6pm, performance at 6:30 p.m. at PlatteForum, 2400 Curtis Street in Denver. The performance is free and open to the public. Seating will be first-come, first-served.

“Dinner with the Ego and I” was conceived of, directed and performed by Hakeem Furious during his two-month residency at PlatteForum in which he has worked with PlatteForum’s own award-winning ArtLab high school interns. Hakeem Furious and the interns have conducted poetry workshops together to investigate concepts of loss, existential crises and consumerism. Furious’ upcoming multimedia, immersive performance will address concepts of the self and identity. Questions of one’s origin and purpose will be closely interrogated.

In tandem with the evening’s performance, Hakeem Furious will be launching the release of his self-published book of poetry, possessing the same title as the performance. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
