REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS | Deadline: 9:00am, Monday, November 28th, 2016

PlatteForum is currently accepting proposals for photography-themed Lead Artists to mentor PlatteForum’s ArtLab interns through conversations and responses to some of the most pressing social issues in Denver communities, nationally, and beyond. The chosen Lead Artist(s) will work with approx. 15 high school ArtLab interns to create a body of work in tandem with the 2017 Month of Photography (MoP Denver). MoP Denver is a biennial celebration of fine art photography which hosts hundreds of collaborative public events throughout the region. This year, MoP Denver occurs during the months of March and April 2017. We are looking for Lead Artist(s) projects which explore themes of social change and justice while provoking a contemporary teen voice. Lead artists will collaborate with staff to develop an 8-week project which will become PlatteForum’s MoP event. Lead Artists will meet with ArtLab interns once a week, for at least three hours each Saturday. During this time the Lead Artist will guide ArtLab interns through the creative process, explore concepts and materials relative to the project. All work created during this time will culminate in a public group exhibition. Please note that PlatteForum’s access to darkroom and digital photography resources are limited, but may be arranged.

ArtLab MoP Dates:

  • Start date: January 7, 2017
  • Saturdays 10am – 1pm
  • Last date and public group exhibition: Noon-3pm Saturday, March 11, 2017
